Lindsey Tyson has won the 6th Annual Women in Art - Emerging Abstract Artist award with her work 'Wednesday'

'Wednesday' is an abstract painting inspired by broken pavements, road markings and the variety of textures and compositions that appear randomly in this 'mundane' subject matter.

Made from encaustic wax, plaster, oil paint, graphite, charcoal, crackle paste, embossed paper. Mark making and layering are an important part of her practice. Creating something beautiful and intriguing from the overlooked.

The Women in Art award is sponsored by Emma Thompson and is a female-led not-for-profit community whose aim is to support mentor and promote women artists.

Each year they hold an art award open to all emerging women artists; painters & photographers that are living and working in the UK. The submissions are then shortlisted to 22 artists whom they feel have the potential to excel in the art world.

Seagull Gallery are proud to be one of only two galleries with permanent displays of Lindsey's work.
